Nonexistent Pancakes and Demolition

Saturday morning I woke up and decided to make pancakes. I walked downstairs, hit the living room, turned left, grabbed a screwdriver and started my shower demolition. I have yet to eat any pancakes…and my shower is in a lot worse shape!

I walked upstairs to my sleeping husband and said…Baby! I took off the shower door! Little did he know, by the time he woke up we would be down one less shower!

I thought, hmm…I’m going to be working on my shower so I should probably turn off my water. Took a picture of my gas meter, sent it to my dad and said, is this the knob I turn? I got quite the laugh from that guy!

So I officially know how to take the faucet and little water handles off of a shower (without turning off the water), how to remove a tub surround and how to cut and install a cement board. Did I do it correctly? I guess we shall find out someday depending on how whatever we end up doing holds up!

Some people don’t know how to do a certain thing so they don’t do it. Others don’t think through things and just start ripping stuff apart in hopes that they’ll figure it out! Sadly for my husband…I’m the latter!

He asked me last night…what changed in your mind from the time you started downstairs to make pancakes and the time you were unscrewing the shower door?

I don’t know…I just turned left!

I come from a family of handymen! They lay sheet rock, remodel houses, carpenters,  electricians, plumbers, HVAC dudes…you name it, I’m guessing there’s one in my family. For some reason I think I’m genetically inclined to build things. So I have it in my head that there’s nothing I can mess up too badly that couldn’t be fixed.

There was a sweet girl from my church yesterday that sang “Clean” by Natalie Grant. I had never heard it before, but it spoke so much truth. Here’s the first verse and chorus.

I see shattered
You see whole
I see broken
But You see beautiful
And You’re helping me to believe
You’re restoring me piece by piece

There’s nothing too dirty
that You can’t make worthy
You wash me in mercy
I am clean

Just a sweet reminder that no matter how broken, how dirty, how flawless we are…God is able to restore. There’s nothing too dirty that You can’t make worthy. You wash me in mercy. I am clean!
