Oh baby baby how was I supposed to know… Let’s hear it for the boy. Let’s here it for my baby… If you say go, we will go. If you say wait, we will wait… To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain… Maybe you were transported back to your youth for the … Continue reading It Is Well
There’s something about rain and a porch and an empty screen that brings me a little extra joy..even when I don’t have anything specific to say. The past two months have been defined by change and I have not sat down to write since June 19th…which is quite weird for me. You’re welcome for the … Continue reading Immeasurably More
It was the phrase “R & R get in the van!” (in reference to Richard and Robert) that got me. I flipped straight to the last twenty pages of the book because I could no longer take it, found out everyone died, said “urgh” when I read the last sentence, and then prayed because I … Continue reading Day 4
I have a favor to ask of you. One year ago today I was working on an autobiography (an assignment…not an actual book) and was posed with the task of wrapping it all up by writing one sentence that depicts who I am in my life journey so far. So I took it took the … Continue reading Day 3 & Hinoki
At least two kittens and a beautiful orange, white and black momma have made their home under my porch. This is foreshadowing an event so I felt you should know. Remember when I was like, yeah…I’m going to do t, u, v, w, x, y, and z. Well it’s 10:35 as I sit down to … Continue reading Day 2
The mountain-sized pile of laundry on my bed has been staring me in the face all day. And yes, when J took a nap I just scooted a bit over and plopped him down right beside it all hoping he didn’t get lost in it. I woke up at 6:38 with excessive amounts of zeal. … Continue reading Day 1
It started with grabbing a pair of my husband’s underwear and putting them on before going to a homecoming parade and it ended with dozing off while mumbling toward the bathroom for my curly little blonde headed, blue-eyed, not quite two year old to stop playing with a plunger…and somewhere in between these moments my … Continue reading A Back Porch A-Ha
Sometimes I make real “my-momma-taught-me-to-cook” meals for supper, other times I make Ramen noodles…and other other times I sit here and watch my husband cook while thinking about how much I do not want to cook. Sometimes I have every ounce of laundry in the house done, other times I have two baskets full of clean unfolded laundry and approximately seven loads of dirty laundry…and other other times no one can find clean underwear or socks. Then to recover from that situation, I do astronomical amounts of laundry in one day, chunk it all on my bed and then throw it (unfolded) into baskets for each of the six humans living under this roof. Whether it be graduating school, ending an athletic career, changing jobs, taking on a label you never asked for, becoming an empty-nester, entering into mid-life/senior status, or whatever the heck else role it is that might be coming or going, just remember your worth is not tied solely to this title. You are worth far more because you are loved and held by the creator of the universe. Remember that! Continue reading Beyond the Label
I’m a big fat lover of snow days! I remember the times in junior high when one of my best friends and I would talk our parents into letting us stay over at each others’ houses on school nights when snow was in the forecast in hopes that we’d wake up and school would be … Continue reading What do you have?
