Mom-Life Shape

Eight minutes in…”Momma, I’m already skinny and my jeans button so how ’bout you just do the rest?”

Note to self…never let a six year old choose your workout. I mean why wouldn’t she choose a 26 minute ab workout? I think it’s only fair that I have Rocky abs after that one.

Last night, I tucked the kids into bed at 7:30 and then (the lady who rarely goes to sleep before 1:30am) crawled into bed with every intention of going to sleep until I remembered I like my husband too much to be satisfied with just an hour and a half of his face!

I’ve gotta get into mom-life shape! Going from sitting at a desk for 8 hours to moving almost constantly for 12…13 hours is quite a different challenge!

How many times did I go up and down the stairs to stop little man from playing in the toilet? How did you get on top of the island? And the girls…chase me! Let’s play tag! Help me roller skate across the house 43 times! I’m thirsty. I pooped. I’m hungry. And on and on…

It takes time to get ready for a marathon, right?! And if I remember correctly…rest days are a vital part of a marathon training program? You better believe today is movie day! #imarookie

As a kiddo my mom taught aerobics classes and did body building. She was quite the hottie after having three kids. I remember doing aerobics with her in our living room and going to her classes wondering why some of her ladies brought canned food to lift instead of weights…I get it now! (I’m definitely glad the dress has changed since the early 90’s in the aerobics world.) If you need a bit of entertainment…here you go!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRscYVvEFt8

For years I’ve been taught the importance of exercise although I’ve been slacking off quite a bit these days. Ten years ago a 26 minute ab workout would have been no big deal, but yesterday it was a different story.

You’ve been raised on the Message of the faith and have followed sound teaching. Now pass on this counsel to the followers of Jesus there, and you’ll be a good servant of Jesus. Stay clear of silly stories that get dressed up as religion. Exercise daily in God—no spiritual flabbiness, please! Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever. You can count on this. Take it to heart. This is why we’ve thrown ourselves into this venture so totally. We’re banking on the living God, Savior of all men and women, especially believers. (1 Timothy 4:8-10)

 No spiritual flabbiness please! 🙂

“Faith is like a muscle – the more we exercise it the larger it grows. The more we exercise our faith muscle the more we see God’s faithfulness, and our confidence in Him and His promises grows. We are able, in turn, to trust Him for more.” (Tom Yeakley)
