Today I moved my entire home desk setup from my window-filled music room into my living room right in front of the fireplace. Three days of either negative temperatures or single digits I decided I no longer wanted to be cold. After carrying wood inside, lugging a desk across the house, and moving every piece of my computer equipment, I was then so hot I had to go stand outside in the 5 degree weather to make it make sense again.
Unedited photos of one of my favorite weddings are calling my name, but my mouse is being high maintenance and asked to be charged for the first time in months. Apparently, the mouse sensed my heightened sense of motivation after working either begrudgingly or not at all the past two days and decided to shut down productivity real quick with a simple notification.
Fast forward 11 hours.
Do you remember those memes that used to float around about stop drop and roll. It went something like. “Stop, drop, and roll was such a big deal when I was younger. I really expected to be on fire way more than the zero times I have been so far.”
Well tonight after hours of the door being shut to the fireplace and it appearing to be dead; I saw a flame reignite. So, of course, I went back to the shop and brought more wood inside. I threw one on before blowing on it and WOOOOOFFFF! An ember with the tenacity of a vengeance-seeking-warrior flew out. A flash of orange passed my eye and hit my static-filled hair and grew oranger (so it seemed) before I started patting my head down like I remember my fire fighter uncle teaching me in grade school right before we crawled through the mock burning house on wheels and practiced feeling the doors with the backs of our hands.
Similarly, I also thought I’d be washing more greasy ducks from all those Dawn dish soap commercials.
Also…while we’re on the topic of funny memes.
“I’m glad I learned about parallelograms in high school instead of how to do my taxes. It comes in so handy during parallelogram season.”
Parallelogram season!
For the sake of all involved, I won’t even begin to tell you about my adventures grading assignments for the past 2 hours. Such a fan of those college students; they fail to leave me straight-faced and/or bored.
